KCK: Friday night the Wholesale Batteries USAC MWRA Sprint Car series invaded Lakeside Speedway with Xavier Doney of Odessa, Missouri, taking a hard fought win over Jack Wagner, Lone Jack (Mo), Samuel Wagner, Lone Jack,(Mo), Braydon Cromwell, Lone Jack, (Mo), and Riley Kreisel, Warsaw, (Mo) completing the top 5.

All five of these drivers fought hard to get their final position at the front of the leader board, with Doney driving the Doney-Lawson 74, and Jack Wagner in the JHR-WBR Racing 77, fighting it out until the final lap to see who would take home the first place prize. Ultimately, that would be Doney, winning his third all-time feature with series after stalking Jack Wagner for much of the second half of the 25 lapper, before seizing a opportunity to pass his rival in traffic. Afterwards, Doney, the 2021 Rookie of the year with MWRA called the track “Technical but racy” stating further “There was a patch of moisture I found about three lanes off the bottom coming out of two that I used to gain momentum going down the backstretch and into three that was very helpful to my race to the win”. Meanwhile, Samuel Wagner was working his late race magic to another podium finish in the Wagner Boys Racing 73, his third podium finish with MWRA in 2024 in three points paying starts. With Cromwell finishing 4th in the Cromwell Racing 4, after winning earlier at ECS, to give the Lone Jack contingent 3 out of the top 4 spots, and Kreisel racing his F5 mount to its best result so far in 2024 coming home 5th.

Several heavy hitters finished in places 6th through 10th with Kory Schudy, Battlefield, (Mo) in 6th, Bonham, Texas, gunner Kobe Simpson in 7th, (Country Kids) Hard Charger award winner Luke Howard of Overland Park, Kansas, advancing 11 spots from 19th to take 8th place. While point leader coming into the night Taylor Walton of Odessa, (Mo) would run to ninth, and defending series champ Wyatt Burks of Topeka, (Ks) completed the top 10 at Lakeside Friday night. In the feature, Natalie Doney, of Odessa, (Mo), would also flip the Lewis Racing machine, with Natalie okay, but the car unfortunately receiving extensive front end damage.

Earlier in the evening three heat races were conducted for the 23 combatants with Kreisel wining the first heat. Xavier Doney the second heat after a great battle with Simpson. And Cromwell, coming from the back to earn high point honors for the night after besting Walton at the line by (00.23) seconds in heat race number three.
