The 2nd night of the Lentz Paving Racesavers season had 19 entries at the Red Clay of Bloomington. This would setup a 3 heat format all cars transferring. The 3 drivers that were the fast times in each of their groups were Ethan Barrow, Jordan Welch and Dillan Baldwin. The invert wheel for the heats was a 3. Heat race 1 Riverway Plumbing winner would be Carson Dillion who held off Ethan for the win with John Wolfarth finishing 3rd. Riverway Plumbing Heat race 2 winner would be Ashton Thompson with the big win looking really strong over Keith Langley and Dustin Clark. The final heat Riverway Plumbing winner would be Rod Henning who would hold off Bradley Sterrett and Dillan Baldwin. All 3 heats set really fast times around the red clay in the 11 second per lap times. This would setup the A main with an invert of 2 and that put Ashton and Carson on the front row. This 20 lap A main would be wild as Ashton showed her speed and really smooth laps for the first half of the race. The lapped traffic would then be part of the wild 2nd half. Ashton while leading had a problem and I am not sure if it was contact or something else but her night was over as she pulled to the infield. This gave the lead to Ethan Barrow but as the lapped traffic kept getting heavier here came the 21A of Bradley Sterrett to take the top spot. Bradley would hold on the closing laps for the Brawley Group Feature win. Finishing behind Bradley at the checkers it was Ethan Barrow, Dustin Clark, Jordan Welch and Dillan Baldwin. Thanks to all the teams who put on another awesome show. The Bridlewood Consulting Hard Charger was Jordan Welch as he came from 11th to 4th. Next weekend is a double header with Bloomington and LPS for the Lentz Paving Indiana Racesavers.
The Indiana Late Model Series rolled into Bloomington with 12 entries. Jug Wethington would win heat race 1 over Steve Peeden, Brent Lee and Zach Stalker. Heat race 2 went to Marty O’Neal over Alan Magner, Zac Gibbs and Robert Rainey. The feature was won by Jug Wethington in a dominating performance over Marty O’Neal, Steve Peeden Alan Magner, Brent Lee, Zac Gibbs, Zack Burton and Zach Stalker.
The UMP Hornets had 9 entries with Ty Bland and Jeremy Shemwell winning the heats. The invert spin wheel was a 2 again so the heat winners were on the front row of the feature. Ty Bland would win the 15 lap A main over Jeremy Shemwell, Skylar Ashley, Todd Dasenbrock and Dakota Jackson.
The first ever Crown Vic race at Bloomington and Matthew Weston was the heat winner. Matthew Weston would also win the feature over Ryan Woods, Stacie Fitzgerald, Rodney Porter and Ray Weston. We are hoping the word gets out and this class grows because it is a great class for beginners or veterans to keep the cost down in racing.
The 410 non wings had a small field with all the other big shows like Eldora going on but it was another classic at the red clay. Matt Thompson and Harley Burns set quick time in each of their groups and with an invert of 2 would both start outside of the front rows in their heats. Heat 1 had Trey Osborne in the Burton 04 pick up the win from the pole over Brandon Spencer and Gabriel Gilbert. Heat 2 Harley took the early lead from the outside front row and went on for the win over Brayden Fox and Austin Cory. This setup the A main and the invert was a spin of 2 again so Harley and Trey would start from the front row in the 25 lap A main. The red clay from the early morning rain never did slow down all night and the 11 seconds barely lifting in the corner was the theme for the night. Harley and Trey both looked really strong all 25 laps but it was the 2023 champ Harley Burns that has started the year off really strong at the red clay and took the big win over Trey Osborne, Brayden Fox, Ricky Lewis and Matt Thompson. Next week is the Usac Larry Rice Classic along with Racesavers and UMP Hornets so we will see you at the red clay for a huge show.
