Sunday’s sprint car season opener at BAPS Motor Speedway was a story of survival for Hartlaub. A stay in the game, it’s not over til it’s over kind of day.
Hartlaub started 6th in his heat race, which was lined up based on timed hot laps. He claimed the 5th and final transfer spot on the opening lap and held onto it for three laps before Justin Peck battled by him to take it away.
A 6th place finish in the heat race put the Ninety Five Motorsports team in the B-main. Hartlaub raced a steady 2nd throughout that 10-lap event to earn the 21st starting spot in the 30-lap A-main.
Hartlaub made early ground in the feature race, cracking the top fifteen on lap six. He peaked on lap twenty-four in the 13th spot but settled for a 14th-place finish at the checkers.
