KNOXVILLE, IOWA (April 24, 2013) – Popular journeymen sprint car drivers David Gravel of Watertown, Connecticut, and Shane Stewart of Bixby, Oklahoma, will both be signing autographs at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, Iowa.
David Gravel is the 2008 North American 360 Sprint Car Poll “Rookie of the Year” and the 2010 Knoxville (410) Nationals “Rookie of the Year.” He has also competed and won with the United Racing Company (URC), the All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) and the World of Outlaws (WoO). In fact, the only thing that will prevent David from signing autographs this Saturday will be if the WoO tour gets rained out in Oklahoma on Friday evening and they are forced to reschedule for the next night.
Shane Stewart is the 1992 National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) “Rookie of the Year” and the 2005 Knoxville (410) Nationals “Rookie of the Year.” He is the 2003 and ‘04 “Mr. Sprint Car” (Iowa Speed Week champion) and the 2009 & 2011 North American 360 Sprint Car Poll “Driver of the Year.” The 2009 and ’11 American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) champion won the 360 Knoxville Nationals in 2007, ’10, ’11 and ‘12. Shane will also be at Knoxville Raceway on Friday evening for the legendary half-mile dirt track’s annual practice night.
Said museum executive director Bob Baker today, “We are thrilled that David Gravel and Shane Stewart will be amongst the many invaders that will be competing at the ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World’ this Saturday night and we are equally excited to be hosting them here at the non-profit museum on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Both drivers are class acts, on- and off-the-track.”
