Ever since he was young watching his father compete all across the country driving a sprint car, Garrett Dollansky has dreamed of following in his father’s footsteps. That dream came true two years ago when the then 17 year old made the jump from legends straight to getting behind the seat of a 410 sprint car on a limited schedule. This year another milestone will be made in Garrett’s young career as he embarks on competing weekly at Knoxville Raceway behind the wheel of the Eyecon Trail Cameras #2.
“Getting into a 410 sprint car has been an incredible experience for me,” commented the young Dollansky. “Every time I get on the race track I try to make as many quality laps as possible and use both top and bottom knowing every lap is a learning experience.”
Since competing in go-karts for five years, Kenyon midgets two, and legends for one year before jumping up to a 410 sprint car, the 19 year old son of ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ is eager to get behind the wheel in 2013 knowing the opportunity that awaits is great for continual development of his career.
“I am really looking forward to racing Knoxville as well as having Brian Sundby take part as crew chief,” continued Garrett. “My main focus for this year is getting as many laps as possible while gaining more knowledge of 410 sprint cars and building chemistry between myself and Bryan. I greatly appreciate everyone who is supporting this effort.”
As a father, Craig Dollansky is looking forward to watching Garrett progress this season and is also thankful of the opportunity presented to a young driver that is eager to learn and make the most out of the chance he’s been granted.
“This will be a great team for Garrett as he has only raced a handful of 410 sprint car races and I am excited for him to have the opportunity to race on a weekly basis,” commented Craig. “I was very impressed the first time I saw him make laps in a 410 sprint car. He has a lot of potential and just needs laps and seat time. Teaming up with Bryan and Dave Sundby of BDS Motorsports, Bryan has a lot of experience and is as hard a worker as you are going to find. Bryan will be very good for Garrett and I look forward to watching them progress as they begin working together starting this weekend. Both Garrett and I are very appreciative for the sponsorship support from Tod Quiring and Eyecon Trail Cameras by Big Game along with everyone else behind this effort.”
