Dodge City, Kan 4/11/2024 (www.urssracing.com) - The United Rebel Sprint Series is gearing up for a doubleheader weekend in Oklahoma, starting at Enid Speedway on Friday, April 19th, and ending at Longdale Speedway Saturday, April 20th. The United Rebel Sprint Car Series makes its nine year return to the 3/8 mile speedway located in north eastern Enid, Oklahoma. The last time the series raced at the speedway was on October 24th and 25th in 2009, with Jamie Passmore and Rafe Essary grabbing their first United Rebel Sprint Series feature wins.
The United Rebel Sprint Car Series Presented by RacinDirt.Com also will travel to Longdale Speedway in Longdale Oklahoma the following night. Longdale Speedway, a ? mile track as well, showcases much different characteristics than what Enid Speedway does. Longdale Speedway, similar to Dodge City Raceway Park and I-70 Motorsports Park, has an outside safer barrier around the entire track. Last season, Jeremy Huish grabbed his first win at the track to close out the 2023 season for the Rebels.
The season kicked off with a thrill at Dodge City Raceway Park during the DCRP Sprint Car Nationals. Jeremy Huish picked up the checkered flag and a check for $5,000, but a lot of buzz has been building already around the runner up finisher.
Conner Thomas from Post, Texas nearly dotted the bullseye in his debut with the United Rebel Sprint Car Series. Winning his qualifier race Friday night, and then running 2nd to a former champion of the series, the 16-year old had a lot to be proud of after the weekend.
“We had a couple of shots at it, and honestly I don’t know what I could have done differently. In my books though this is a win, to do what we just did, I’m not leaving unsatisfied at all” said Thomas during the post race. When asked about running for a rookie of the year award the response was very clear, “we will be back!”
