Race of Champions Series management, in conjunction with Lake Erie Speedway and streaming partners Racing America have made the decision to adjust the schedule and postpone the Race of Champions 250 once again. A rescheduled date will be announced in the future.
“We’ve experienced quite a roller coaster of weather conditions in our region in the past few weeks,” stated Joe Skotnicki, Race of Champions. “We also recognize the weather is just not cooperating. It is not trending toward a forecast that will give us the opportunity to have a successful event, even putting fans and competitors in extreme conditions. Additionally, it is no longer just the weather conditions we must work through. Unless there is a dramatic change in the forecast, the conditions may or may not let us get the event started and completed. The cost of travel has risen, hotels have changed policies to require 48-hours’ notice to cancel along with other logistical elements that dictate these early decisions.
“Inevitably there will be detractors and people who question this decision, including scheduling the race this early in the year,” Skotnicki continued. “Balancing the schedules and working with other Series for an open date is always challenging. It is never an easy decision to make, however, we are committed to running this race and currently negotiating to reschedule this. When we finally make the decision, it will be with our fans, constituents and partners in mind based on their dedication to the Series.”
The show will remain as has been advertised with the Race of Champions 250 for the Race of Champions Modified Series, the Race of Champions Street Stock Series, the Race of Champions FOAR SCORE Four Cylinder Dash Series and the WNY TQ Midgets.
When the event is run, all purchased tickets, registrations, entries and purchased pit passes (you must save your wristband) will be honored and valid. If you do not save your wristband issued from the original race weekend, in September 2022, it will not be honored.
Race of Champions Weekend will return to Lake Erie Speedway in September of 2024 with a weekend packed with racing excitement, including the Race of Champions September 20, 21 and 22, 2024.
