Cloverdale, Ohio – Abby Hohlbein, a 17-year-old racing prodigy from Cloverdale, Ohio, is gearing up to leave her mark on the midget and 360 racing circuits this season. With a lifelong passion for racing and a background deeply rooted in the sport, Abby is poised to take on new challenges and showcase her talents on both local and national stages.
Having grown up immersed in the racing world alongside her father, who has been a racer since Abby was a baby, the adrenaline-fueled atmosphere of the racetrack became a second home to her. From her inaugural race at the snowmobile grass drags to competing in various series such as quarter midgets, 600cc micro sprints, stock cars, dirt trucks, and more, Abby has honed her skills across a diverse range of racing disciplines.
Last summer, Hohlbein achieved a significant milestone by obtaining her road course license at Mid-Ohio, setting the stage for her latest venture into the GLSS (Great Lakes Super Sprints) series.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the upcoming season, Hohlbein shared her plans to compete in both the Badger Midget Series and GLSS. "I am super excited for the opportunities that I have been able to achieve this race season, and I look forward to making the most of them," said Abby. "
My goals for the season are to get better every race and be as competitive as possible. The 360 is especially going to be a new challenge, but I am super excited to see where this opportunity will take me in my career."
Abby attributes much of her excitement and optimism for the season to the support of her car owner, Rocky Anderson of Elkhart,IN whom she describes as "an amazing person." Additionally, Abby looks forward to collaborating with her crew chief, Shawn, as they work together to navigate the highs and lows of the racing season ahead.
As Hohlbein prepares to hit the track, fans and fellow racers alike can anticipate an electrifying season filled with thrilling races and unforgettable moments as this young talent continues to carve out her place in the world of motorsports.
The 2024 season for GLSS and the Ohio CAT Sprint Division opens this Saturday at Waynesfield Raceway Park. The opener is early, the pits open at 12:00 PM and racing starts at 4:00 PM.
