RS12 Motorsports kicked off its outdoor season over Easter weekend with the 4th annual Small Tire Shootout at Doe Run Raceway. Zander LaRose showed the way for the RS12 contingent with a victory at the 1/6-mile oval in Doe Run, Missouri.
On Friday, LaRose picked up a heat race win in the LO206 Restricted Box Stock class and both started and finished second in the 10-lap A-Main. The next night, he again won his heat and rolled off second in the 10-lap feature. This time he finished one spot better to take his first feature win of the year.
Meanwhile, on Friday, fellow RS12 driver Harrison Robards took on both the 32-car strong Winged Outlaw Micros and the A-Class Winged Micros featuring 20 cars. He finished sixth in his heat in the Outlaw ranks and came home fourth in his B-Main, ending his night before the 20-lap, $1,000-to-win A-Main. In the A-Class, Robards finished fifth in his heat but did not start the 20-lap main event.
On Saturday, Robards only competed in the Winged Outlaw Micros class, which saw its number of entrants swell to 37. Robards finished second in his heat and began the 30-lap, $2,500-to-win A-Main from the 12th spot. He ran inside the top 10 early in the race, but ultimately suffered a DNF and came home 17th.
In addition, RS12 driver Allen Cope finished eighth in the Winged Outlaw Micros feature on Saturday, while teammate Jaxton Wiggs finished 15th in the Outlaw division and sixth in the A-Class main event. Wiggs did not start either the Winged Outlaw B-Main or A-Class feature on Friday.
