Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (April 15, 2013) Taking a weekend off following events at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park and Royal Purple Raceway, the Griffith Truck and Equipment Gulf South Region returns to competition at the Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas on Friday, April 19 and Gator Motorplex on Saturday, April 20 in Willis, Texas.
Going into the weekend double header, Ray Allen Kulhanek leads the charge a mere 20 markers ahead of Channin Tankersley who picked up his first win of the 2013 season in the regions last outing on Saturday, April 6 at the Royal Purple Raceway with a final lap pass on Kulhanek to become the season’s fourth different winner.
Aaron Reutzel holds the final podium step with John Carney II and Tommy Bryant making up the top five in the regional point standings with a total of 110 points separating the five drivers.
Situated due north of Houston, the Heart O’ Texas Speedway will be the site of the third annual Life Partners Inc. Duel on the Brazos on Friday, April 19. The event will also include the IMCA Modifieds, Sport Mods, Hobby Stock, and Street Stock divisions. Gates are scheduled to open at 6:00 P.M. with races beginning at 8:00 P.M. Three hours away, the Gator Motorplex will be the site of the second annual Nolan Wren Memorial on Saturday, April 20. Held in honor of Ralph Nolan Wren who passed away in September, 2011, the Saturday affair will have a full card with EMSA Micro Sprints, Restrictor Sprints, Junior Sprints, Pure Stocks, Limited Modifieds, and Hobby Stocks. The 2013 season marks the twenty-second year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada.
