Bad fast racing surfaces greeted the cars and stars of the Hyper Racing WFO Winged Outlaw Micro Series presented by Dirt2Media at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin, IL this weekend.
Chad Elliott started from the pole in Friday night’s A Main and held off Daryn Stark and Reed Whitney for the win. The Cottage Hills, IL driver earned the pole through high point honors in the WFO Micro Series passing points system, and used the advantage of a hammer down racetrack to score the win.
Kole Kirkman, Hunter Pruitt, Reed Whitney and Jaxton Wiggs scored wins in their K1 Racegear heat races, while Aarik Andruskevitch and Allen Cope earned B Main victories. Eric Braundmeier picked up the Driven Midwest Hard Charger Award passing 9 cars in Friday’s feature event.
Kirkman started on the pole of Saturday’s A Main and held off a hard charging Dane Sensel and outside front row starter Max Crabdree to score the win. Sensel looked to have a shot at Kirkman as the track widened out significantly in lapped traffic but the Kokomo, IN racer held on to pick up the $1,000 pay day.
Andruskevitch, Kirkman, Devin Feger and Sensel earned K1 RaceGear heat race wins, while Jay Tindal and Ayden Gatewood took wins in their respective B Mains. Jordan Clary earned the night’s Driven Midwest Hard Charger Award, passing 5 cars en route to a 7th place finish.
