OSWEGO, NY (February 23, 2024) - iRacing and Oswego Speedway are pleased to reveal that the New York-based oval will be added to iRacing in a build later in 2024. The historic .625-mile oval will become the latest short track to join the iRacing platform, with both paved and dirt variants coming to the world’s premier motorsport simulator as part of the release.
“Oswego Speedway is going to be a great addition to iRacing for oval racers of all types,” said iRacing president Tony Gardner. “It’s a prominent short track where many of the top stock car and open-wheel racers in the northeast have cut their teeth over the years, and its addition to the Super DIRTcar Series schedule nearly a decade ago brought it back to its roots in dirt racing. We’re thrilled to be able to say that iRacers will get to experience both versions with our impending release in a future build!”
“We are thrilled to work with iRacing on bringing Oswego Speedway to the virtual world through their meticulous scanning process, which is second to none,” said track owner, John Torrese. “It's an exciting opportunity for fans and racers from around the world to experience the Steel Palace, whether on pavement or dirt, right from the comfort of their own homes."
Known as ‘The Steel Palace,’ Oswego Speedway began hosting auto races in 1951 after it was converted from a horse racing track. The track was paved a year later, and following that, lengthened from 3/8 of a mile to 5/8 in 1961. Since then, the track has opened a continuous weekly racing program each year, including the last weekly Supermodified series in the world. Since 2016, the track has been covered in dirt each fall for the Super DIRTcar Series’ Super DIRT Week, the highest-paying dirt modified event of the season.
On iRacing, Oswego Speedway will join a select group of venues to have both paved and dirt oval configurations. iRacers who purchase Oswego Speedway upon its future release will receive both versions of the track in a single package.
