The 50th Jubilee Season is approaching at the Can-Am Speedway in Lafargeville New York and this year will feature not one but two Super DIRTCar Series events.
This event however, has significant meaning as it will pay tribute to a man for the better part of 30 years has been close to the Bartlett family.
In the words of Tyler Bartlett:
“Richard Hutchinson was no stranger to Can-Am speedway.
For decades, Richard was instrumental in a lot of the behind the scenes infrastructure for the facility.
Whether it was General Contracting, working on generators, heavy equipment or lighting his knowledge and expertise will never go unnoticed.
A close personal friend to the Bartlett family for almost 30 years, known as “Diesel Dick” his presence will be forever missed.
For the past 7 years of my ownership of the racetrack Dick was always there for quick advice, vast knowledge and a friendly joke. The phrase “ let me call Dick” happened often when a problem arises and a quick solution was needed.
I am humbled to honor his legacy at the speedway with a tribute race honoring a great man.”
The 67 lap memorial event will pay $7.567 dollars to win and will be the first time the big blocks will be visiting the speedway twice since a twin 50 lap contest took place during the 2007 season, won by Steve Paine and 3 time DIRTCar 358 Modified champion at Can-Am, Tim Fuller.
The pair of Super DIRTCar Series events is just a couple of reasons to get to the track in 2024 for the 50th Jubilee season.
Stay tuned to the track Facebook page as we continue to showcase some of the memorable moments and some of the drivers from seasons past. The 2024 season schedule is out so be sure to mark your calendars, we will see you at the track!
