Taking part in the 38th annual Chili Bowl Nationals to kick off his 2024 season, Ryan Timms returned to the driver’s seat of the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports Midget at the Tulsa Expo Center (Tulsa, Okla.) on Friday as his preliminary night kicked off aboard his JBL sponsored No. 67 entry.
With 80 Midgets slated to compete in Friday’s prelim, Timms backed up a third-to-first showing in his heat with a sixth-to-first charge in his Qualifier. Starting on the pole for his preliminary feature, Ryan led laps 1-7 and 16-28 but couldn’t contain 2023 Chili Bowl champion Logan Seavey in the closing laps. He ended up second in the final rundown, chasing Seavey to the checkers with Andrew Felker, Steven Snyder Jr., and Emerson Axsom completing the Top-5 finishers.
Lined up seventh for Saturday night’s $20,000-to-win Chili Bowl Nationals via the Pole Shuffle earlier in the evening, Ryan raced to a consistent 12th-place finish in the 55-lap main event.
