Bryan Hulbert - PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 1, 2013) Involved in racing Arizona since the late 1970s’, Steve Stroud has been a fan of dirt track racing for nearly his entire life. Taking time away from the sport starting in the late 80’s to build his business; Steve was away from the sport for nearly 15 years.
With his business established, Stroud has now found a way to give back to the racing community, becoming the title of the American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region with his Hose Advantage Store.
With a large inventory of hose, and hose building products at his three stores in Phoenix and Mesa, Ariz., Steve Stroud has been about helping the racers long before he put his stores’ name on the ASCS Southwest Region.
“The Hose Advantage Store has a large inventory of Earls race products and fittings, and probably the largest inventory in the southwest” said Stroud of how his stores cater to the racing community.
Asked what racers can expect in his stores, Steve was very quick to point out how racing is a very specialized sport and in most cases need specialized parts, “We carry special application fittings that are found with the race engines and racecars. We think it’s very important to carry big inventories so when a racer comes in needing to build six or seven hoses the racer knows that he’ll have everything he needs to get the job done fast, and at a good price.”
With great expectations for the 2013 season, Steve voiced his vision for the Hose Advantage Store ASCS Southwest Region, “Right now we have four tracks working together with the southwest division and I think with the ASCS momentum, and Roger Toops’ ability to work with some of the local folks, I am really excited for ASCS getting an opportunity to show the fans, to show the race promoters, to become more a part of the southwest racing culture.”
A fan of Sprint Car racing, whether wing or non-wing, the mix of the Arizona traditional Sprint Car scene and the fairly newer Wing Sprint Car scene, Steve is excited to see what can be done with the backing of ASCS in the southwest area, “I love non-wing racing, but at the same time you can discount what ASCS has done all over the country to further this sport. I am just proud to be a part of what Emmett, Donna, and you have all done.”
The Hose Advantage Store ASCS Southwest Region kicked off the 2013 season this past weekend at the Tucson International Raceway in a co-sanctioned event with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real with Tijeras, N.M. shoe Joshua Hodges assuming the points lead heading into this weekend’s events at the Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz.
Headed by Roger Toops, the Hose Advantage Store ASCS Southwest Region will compete 21 times in 2013 with events in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.
The 2013 season marks the 22nd year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, ASCS also consists of nine different Regions throughout the nation.
