USAC’s 2013 “East Coast Regional Series” for the .25 Midgets debuts this weekend at Nashville, Tenn. and the “Ice Breaker” kicks off a six-race series to determine top finishers who will be honored at the year-end USAC “Showcase of Champions” in Indianapolis, Ind.
Three venues will host the six events, with Nashville also hosting the May 17-19 “Music City Mayhem.” Metro Atlanta in Braselton, Ga. hosts East Coast Regionals on April 19-20 and October 18-19, while the Salisbury, N.C. facility hosts the June 20-22 “Carolina Clash” and the September 20-21 event.
Eligibility for year-end recognition will depend on a driver competing in at least one event at each venue, with the driver’s best four finishes counting toward their year-end “East Coast Regional Series” total. In order for a class to be considered for championship consideration it must include at least three competitors.
Race formats for the “Generation Next” events involved will mirror “Generation Next” formats.
Stand-alone events will open with a controlled 1-9 pm practice on Friday and continue with an additional 9 am Saturday practice prior to competition.
“This is expected to be a heated battle for championships,” says USAC’s Kyle McCain. “We expect this to be one of our signature series in 2013.”
