Belleville, IL. (10/4/23) Coming down to the wire to crown divisional champions with excitement aplenty throughout the 2023 weekly racing season, Lake Ozark Speedway would like to congratulate and thank all competitors, fans, sponsors, workers, officials, and personnel who contributed to making 2023 a successful year of on-and-off track adrenaline rushes.
Making a statement of speed and consistency in a dominating title-taking 2023, Tebbetts Missouri top-talent Ted Welschmeyer would not be denied in attaining the POWRi Super Stock Track Championship at Lake Ozark Speedway. Capturing one feature win, Welschmeyer would not place outside the top ten in the eleven season starts but also placed inside the top five on ten separate occasions. Clinching runner-up would find Grovespring Missouri’s Mark Davis outduel six-time winner Derek Henson of Russellville Missouri who placed third in the season standings. Beaufort Missouri’s Jared Lamke would be locked in a family battle to place fourth with Washington Missouri’s Gary Lamke rounding out the top five finishers for the season.
Repeating as a champion is no small feat, even more so when switching sanctioning bodies after the previous seasons' accomplishments yet Columbia Missouri talent Adam Hall would not falter in his quest for Lake Ozark Speedway POWRi B-Mod track title supremacy. Establishing a three-hundred-seventy-point margin of separation in the standings, Hall would hold off the four-time feature-winning surge of National Champion Cole Campbell of Mexico Missouri in the standings through consistency and perseverance with eleven top-ten finishes in thirteen yearly starts. Camdenton Missouri cruiser Casey Thomas would place third in the season to keep Mack’s Creek Missouri racer Rex Harris fourth as Patrick Lewis of Wellsville Missouri rounding out the track top five in 2023.
Driving with purpose and determination, 2023 POWRi Pure Stock National Champion Darin Porter of California Missouri would add a whole bunch of hardware to his trophy collection this season by also claiming the Lake Ozark Speedway Track title on the final weekend of the season by winning both nights of the Andy Zeller Memorial. Shooting to the top of the standings with six seasonal wins, Porter would not finish outside of the top five at ‘The Lake’ and besting runner-up placement Justin McDowell of Tuscumbia Missouri with one win on the year by only one-hundred-twenty points. Two-time winner and Fulton Missouri talent Trevor Wilson would also notch a top-five in every appearance to place third in the standings with St. Martins Missouri motorist Chad Nivens fourth and Payton McDowell of Tuscumbia Missouri finalizing the top five in the Pure Stock division.
Following the family lineage and precedent set by his father, Logan Roark of Henley Missouri would blast onto the POWRi Midwest Mod division in a flurry of four feature wins while proving he belonged behind the wheel by clinching the track championship in just his rookie-of-the-year winning campaign. Placing inside the top-five in every season start, Logan would overtake eventual runner-up in the standings Ben Newell of Stoutland Missouri in the final weekend with defending champion and Henley Missouri racer Earl Roark third, Zackary Martin of Bourbon Missouri fourth, and Lebanon Missouri driver Oakley Ragland rounding out the season top five at Lake Ozark Speedway.
Attaining the Lake Ozark Speedway track championship in the inaugural year in the tightest chases for the POWRi Hornet Division title would witness Mexico Missouri’s Alvin Cooney hold steady atop the ranking for the duration of the year with a trio of feature wins while also placing inside the top ten in all events entered. Finishing runner-up by a mere twenty-point margin would find Andy Zeller Memorial weekend winner Josh Clark of Columbia Missouri come up just short of glory with Osage Beach Missouri’s Bobby Mooney finalizing the yearly track points podium placements as David Kirkpatrick of Eugene Missouri and Troy Missouri’s Dakota Dubea outside looking in on the top-three.
Championship banquet details for the 2023 season are being finalized and will be announced soon as well as dates for the 2024 racing season schedule currently being diligently filled with exciting events planned at Lake Ozark Speedway for next year.
