Inside Line Promotions – GREENBRIER, Ark. (Oct. 9, 2023) – This weekend presents the final full points-paying races of the ASCS National Tour season for full-time competitor Jordon Mallett.
The 36th annual COMP CAMS Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier at Texarkana 67 Speedway in Texarkana, Ark., was postponed from last weekend to the end of this month because of inclement weather. That event is show-up points only, making the 50th annual Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals this Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, the last chance to gain or lose points.
“We’ve points raced for so many years we know what to expect,” Mallett said. “We’ll do the best job we can. The points will take care of themselves and whatever is meant to happen will happen. We’re here to win races and let the points fall where they will.
“I’ve learned not to get as caught up in it. Just keep your nose clean and keep yourself in the game.”
Mallett enters the weekend ranked third in the ASCS National Tour championship standings – 38 points ahead of fourth place and 63 points in front of fifth place.
This weekend will mark Mallett’s season debut at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, where an ASCS National Tour doubleheader was rained out earlier this year. Mallett’s best result in five starts at the unique track is a seventh-place outing in 2020.
“We’ve been there a few times and seen about every characteristic that place has to offer from locked down to slick to rubbered up,” he said. “It’s one of those places some nights it races really good and other nights it’s a little too fast. Hopefully we get a racy track each night and we can unload a fast race car.”
