Belleville, IL (9/30/23) Finalizing the eventful weekend of outstanding divisional action at Lake Ozark Speedway, POWRi StockMod competitors from all six divisions would contend for wins in the Inaugural Andy Zeller Memorial POWRi StockMod Nationals. Championship Night would witness one-hundred-seventy-seven entries contend with feature racing finding JC Morton winning the Late Model, Aaron Poe grabbing checkers in the Super Stock, Kris Jackson claiming victory in the B-Mod, Darin Porter taking the top prize in the Pure Stock, Dayton Newell emerging victorious in the Midwest Mod, as well as Josh Clark conquering the field in the Hornet divisions.
Setting the feature and semi-feature lineups based on event points earned during preliminary competitions, each division would participate on championship night with the number of lock-in competitors dictated by the number of entrants the division.
Event high point qualifiers and Preliminary Night feature winners for each division would start on the pole position for the feature with JC Morton earning the award in Late Model, Derek Henson in Super Stock, Ryan Gillmore in B-Mod, Darin Porter in Pure Stock, Logan Roark in Midwest Mod, as well as Josh Clark in Hornets.
Semi-Feature winners would include Dustin Dennison in the Midwest Mod as well as Brian Schutt, JC Morton, and Rex Harris in B-Mod divisional competitions.
Championship Feature night racing action would roar to life with the POWRi B-Mods main event with a taste of dramatic flair with a last-lap pass to clinch the feature win would find Kris Jackson slide his way to victory with Andy Bryant finishing runner-up at the line ahead of Terry Schultz that finished third. Bobby Williams would stay in the thick of the front-end pack to finish fourth with Mike Striegel rounding out the top-five finishers.
Driving onto the track second for the POWRi Super Stock feature would find Aaron Poe leading all twenty-six green flag laps to also capture his third straight National Championship title. Staying hot on the leaders bumper the full feature, Night One winner Derek Henson would hold steady to finish second with James Nighswonger finalizing the podium placements as Devin Irvin and Michael Muskrat rounded out the top five finishers.
Hitting the mid-event point with the POWRi Late Model division, Prelim Night winner JC Morton would route the field by leading all twenty-five feature laps to capture his second straight divisional win with Justin Russell taking the runner-up position as newly crowned National Champion Todd McCoin placed third. Advancing nine positions throughout green flag racing would find Kyle Graves finish fourth with Tucker Cox crossing the line sideways to round out the very competitive top-five finishers.
Taking to the finely prepared Lake Ozark Speedway next would find the Pure Stocks division find yet another track and national championship clinched by the eventual feature winner with Darin Porter leading all twenty laps to claim the honors. Running closely behind the full feature would find runner-up in the season standings Trevor Wilson placed second as Trenton Houston finished in a very tight battle for third. Finding speed late, Chris Messerli would place fourth with Mark Simon driving back into a top five placement after a lap one miscue.
Launching onto the track for the penultimate feature event of the evening would witness the POWRi Midwest Mods put on a great display of driving action with Dayton Newell driving to the front of the field to hold off the late advances of night one winner and Lake Ozark Champion Logan Roark that finished second. Claiming the 2023 National Championship in style, Mitch Coulter would finalize the podium placement as Anthony Ferrara and Steve Muilenburg rounded out the top-five finishers.
Finalizing the weekend adventure of the Andy Zeller Memorial the Hornet division would witness Josh Clark sweep the weekend by winning the caution free fifteen lap feature event with Dustin Reeves running in a close runner-up finish. Claiming the national title earlier in the weekend Alvin Cooney placed third with Dakota Dubea finishing fourth as Bobby Mooney rounded out the top-five finishers.
