Belleville, IL(9/28/23) Flying onto the well-prepared hosting track of Lake Ozark Speedway, POWRi StockMod competitors from six separate divisions would flock to Eldon Missouri for the Inaugural Andy Zeller Memorial POWRi StockMod Nationals. Preliminary Night One action would feature Derek Henson winning in the always entertaining Super Stocks, Ryan Gillmore emerging victorious in the show-stealing B-Mods, as well as Darin Porter taking home the prize in the fender-action of the Pure Stock divisions with 101 entries earning event points toward Saturday’s Championship Night.

Early on-track action would find Justin Russell set the Super Stock quick hot-lap time at 16.539 seconds, Kris Jackson would clock the B-Mod overall quickest time of 15.689 seconds, and Darin Porter would log the Pure Stock divisional best with 17.694 seconds.

Heat racing winners would include Derek Henson, Aaron Poe, Justin Russell, and Mark Davis in the Super Stocks. Cole Campbell, Colson Kirk, Bobby Williams, Jeremy Lile, and Dakota Lowe would earn B-Mod heat racing wins. Pure Stock heat race victories would go to Karla Lampe, Darin Porter, and Bradley McDowell. Semi-Feature winners would include Roger Detherage in the Super Stock, Ryan Gillmore and Rex Harris in the B-Mods, and Jerry Unger in the Pure Stock classes.

Feature action would roar to life with the Super Stock division as outside front-row starter Derek Henson would protect the lead for all twenty laps to earn his ninth feature win of 2023 as current National points leader Ted Welschmeyer would drive to a runner-up finish with Michael Muskrat placing in the final podium position. Two-time defending National Champion Aaron Poe would stay in the mix for the front all night to finish fourth as Devin Irvin rounded out the top five finishers for the Superior Steering Wheels POWRi Super Stock feature event.

Driving onto the track next in perhaps the best race of the night, the American Powder Coating B-Mods would not disappoint with hard-charger Ryan Gillmore advancing sixteen positions to steal the win on the final lap with a brilliant feature drive. Contending for the lead all night, Andy Bryant would lead one lap before placing second as leader of eighteen laps Bobby Williams would be forced to settle into third. Driving from starting sixth would witness Kris Jackson contend up-front for the duration of the feature to finish fourth with national point leader Cole Campbell rounding out the very competitive top-five finishers in a thrilling twenty-lap feature event.

Finalizing the first night of the Andy Zeller Memorial the Pure Stock division would witness National Point Leader Darin Porter perfect on the night to capture his twenty-third feature win over the past two seasons while holding off the constant charges of runner-up placement Mark Simon as well as third-place finisher Trevor Wilson. Showing speed late, Bradley McDowell would place fourth with Trenton Houston hard-charging past eleven other drivers to round out the top-five finishers in the Hitachi Energy POWRi Pure Stock Preliminary Night competitions.
