Taking part in the track’s Labor Day special, Waylon Phillips returned to Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex (Sweet Springs, Mo.) on Friday evening for the two-day Pete Frazier Memorial.
The night came to an early end in the A-Class Micro ranks after missing a transfer spot in both his heat race and B-Main but was able to qualify for the Non-Wing Micro A-Main. Following a third-place finish in his consolation race, Waylon started the feature in 19th and charged forward eighth spots to finish 11th.
Back in action on Saturday, Phillips squeezed into the Non-Wing main event with a third-place heat finish while a second-place finish in his A-Class heat dropped him into a B-Main. Sending the top-three into the main event, Waylon posted a second-place finish. Moving forward in both features, Phillips passed five cars in the Non-Wing to finish ninth. He capped off the weekend with a stellar 18th-to-8th run in the A-Class Micro finale.
