Belleville, IL. (8/25/23) Zach Daum would hard-charge through tough competition to earn the feature win at Davenport Speedway in Davenport Iowa with the POWRi National Midget League, running in conjunction with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series presented by Toyota, in Night One of the Quad Cities 150 to capture his twenty-third career league victory after leading six late laps of the thirty-lap feature event.
Initial on-track opposition in the POWRi National Midget League, running in conjunction with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series, would see Ryan Timms start the action off with a new track record quick time in group qualifying of 14.089-second lap as Ryan Timms and Hayden Reinbold each would earn heat racing wins.
Arranging the feature field would find high-point qualifier Ryan Timms roll an invert of zero with Hayden Reinbold setting the front row. Competing for the prized position as the green flag flew would see the inside line momentum of Ryan Timms gain the initial advantage on the opening laps over Hayden Reinbold, Cannon McIntosh, Corbin Rueschenberg, and Jade Avedisian all racing inside the top five.
Clicking laps off at a rapid pace would witness Ryan Timms establish over a three-second racing advantage out front as the action ensued at a blistering pace behind, Reinbold and McIntosh held steady inside the podium with Zach Daum and Jade Avedisian battling behind the leading pack as well as Rueschenberg, Taylor Reimer, Thomas Meseraull, Gavin Miller, and Kyle Beilman rounded out the running top-ten.
Caution would wave on lap twelve as the field would be bunched back together with Timms maintaining the point position on the field as action continued throughout the pack of talented drivers with Reinbold and Zach Daum within striking distance.
Stretching the lead out front, Ryan Timms would appear to be en route to a dominating finish with less than ten laps remaining before his engine would expire and relishing the lead to Zach Daum as caution would once again wave with five laps left.
Setting the stage for late-race dramatics, Zach Daum would lead the field back to green as Cannon McIntosh would use the restart to his liking by shooting to runner-up with Daum protecting the lead as the checkered flags waved.
Clinching late, Zach Daum would hard-charge to the win in the feature event past eight cars to earn his second feature win of 2023 with the POWRi National Midget League as eighth-starting Cannon McIntosh would finish a runner-up.
“I had to race hard there at the end, I knew we had a really good car tonight and the track fit my style being hammer-down on the bottom,” said Zach Daum in the Davenport Speedway victory lane festivities. Adding, “Feels good to get a win just hope to carry momentum into tomorrow night.”
Remaining resilient for the full feature would see Hayden Reinbold finalize the podium placements with Thomas Meseraull finishing fourth as Taylor Reimer rounded out the POWRi National Midget League top-five finishers at Davenport Speedway running in conjunction with the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series.
