Inside Line Promotions – BELLEVILLE, Kan. (Aug. 8, 2023) – Jack Dover rebounded in a big way last weekend during the 305 Sprint Car Nationals hosted by Belleville High Banks.
Dover and the Shawn Loos owned team ran into mechanical problems on Friday during the opening round when they were unable to qualify or compete in a heat race. That buried them in the B Main, which is when the weekend began to turn around.
“Once we finally hit the track we were pretty good and went from 14th to sixth in the B Main,” Dover said. “We were only a couple of positions out of transferring into the main event. I had a lot of confidence going into the weekend and once everything was sorted out on Friday I felt good about Saturday.”
Dover kicked off Saturday’s program by timing in sixth quickest in his group. He then gained a position to place fifth in a heat race. That relegated him to a B Main, which Dover won to advance into the 17th starting position in the A Main.
“We didn’t qualify as well as we wanted and really didn’t have a great heat race,” he said. “We won the B Main and I thought I could feel a little rubber coming onto the track. We tried to work quickly in the main event on the bottom and were able to climb up to seventh. Two guys in front of us were disqualified so we finished fifth.”
Dover’s dozen positions gained made him the Hard Charger for passing the most drivers. The performance was also his seventh top five of the season.
Dover will take this weekend off before racing on Aug. 15 at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D., with the High Limit Sprint Car Series.
