Kyle Steffens got an early start to his race week with a trip to Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Ind.) on Thursday to compete on the high banked half-mile asphalt oval for the third running of the Rich Volger Classic presented by The Pallet Builders.
Gaining speed throughout the night, Steffens started the USAC Silver Crown Series sanctioned feature on the 10th row via his qualifying effort but wasted no time moving forward. He ran as high as 13th in the 100-lapper but was forced to retire with an overheating engine.
Sidelined by more issues on Saturday, Kyle broke out his DIRTcar Modified for the Tribute to Ed Dixon at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.) but was plagued with drive line trouble.
Steffens now turns his attention to the upcoming Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill), which kicks off Friday, July 29th.
