Bagby leads RS12 Motorsports with pair of A-Main starts at Doe Run and Highland Speedway

Harrison Robards, Brian Rieck and newly added driver Matt Bagby each competed with RS12 Motorsports at two tracks against stout competition over the weekend.

On Friday evening, the Spartan Transportation-backed trio took part in the 600cc Non-Winged Micros event at Doe Run Raceway (Doe Run, Missouri). With $1,000 up for grabs for the winner, a strong field of 33 cars filled the pit area of the 1/6-mile track.

Bagby led the way for RS12, starting with an eighth-to-fifth run in his heat race in his No. 42 car. He started the night’s 20-lap A-Main from the 15th spot and finished in the 16th position. He currently sits in eighth place in track points.

Meanwhile, Robards finished sixth in his heat due to a torn fuel line after starting on the pole, putting his No. 12R in the B-Feature. Despite advancing three positions in the “B,” Robards turned in a sixth-place finish and was unable to transfer to the main event. However, he still remains near the top of the track standings in the runner-up spot.

Rieck also attempted to qualify for the feature event through the B-Main after driving the No. 12X to a seventh-place heat-race result. He suffered an untimely chain issue in the B-Feature and finished 14th.

On Saturday the team added wings and moved to the quarter-mile Highland Speedway (Highland, Illinois) to take part in the 25-car strong Micros class as part of the Joshua Melton Memorial.

Robards led the way for the RS12 outfit this time. After driving from sixth to fourth in his heat, he started 11th for the 15-lap A-Main and finished in the same position.

Bagby used a fifth-place heat-race result to start 14th for the night’s feature and came home 15th.

Rieck was plagued with engine issues throughout the evening and was unable to start his heat. The team had solved some of the problems by the time of the B-Main, but he was unable to finish and was scored 10th, ending his night.
