Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (July 17, 2023) – Kaleb Johnson is tackling a pair of races in Iowa this week.

It begins on Tuesday with the Lyon County Fair Race presented by Folkens Brothers Trucking at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids. The Midwest Sprint Touring Series event will be Johnson’s first time at the track since June 2022 when he earned a special triumph.

“I’ve been there five or six times,” he said. “I only raced there once last year and it was my first 360 win. I think we’ve only been out of the top five once there. We’ve had good speed. I feel good about the car and motor combo we’re taking there. Hopefully we can unload fast and be a contender.”

Johnson is riding a four-race streak of podiums as he earned a top-three result during all three of his races at the track in 2021.

The week wraps up on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, where Johnson kicked off last weekend’s action.

“We started out the night strong, but unfortunately had a rear end problem in the feature that forced a DNF,” he said.

Johnson qualified fifth quickest in his group and advanced a position to finish fourth in a heat race. He lined up on the outside of the fourth row in the main event and battled for a top 10 before the mechanical woes occurred around halfway through the race.

Sunday was promising at Huset’s Speedway as Johnson timed in ninth quickest overall. He won a heat race to advance into the feature redraw. Johnson pulled the No. 1 to garner the pole position for the A Main.

“I dropped back a little on the start and from there I feel I was overdriving the car,” he said. “I was driving harder and harder. I made a mistake going into the cushion into turn one, hit the wall and away it went. Everything on the car is probably destroyed besides the engine and the fuel cell.

“Last weekend was frustrating to have both DNFs, but that’s part of racing. I’m looking forward to a new week starting with the Folkens Brothers Trucking sponsored race on Tuesday.”
