Sun Prairie, WI (July 16th, 2023) - Kyle Stark found victory for the second time with the Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midgets. Stark would outduel numerous drivers to pick up his second win at Angell Park Speedway.
Thirty-six cars made the trip to the historic track for the third night of a BMARA sanctioned weekend. Drivers such as the previous night’s winner Parker Jones, championship leader Todd Kluever, the most recent Angell Park Speedway winner Stark, and many others prepared for battle.
Weather was looming and the call was made to qualify during hot laps. Five sessions awaited and it was Stark who picked up the FiveOne Motorsports QuickTime Award with a 15.100. He was followed by Adam Taylor, Zach Boden, Jones, and Tommy Colburn.
The Madison Extinguisher Service Last Chance Qualifier was first on track as Daltyn England picked up the win followed by Kyle Koch and Kurt Mayhew. AutoMeter Heat 1 was won by Zach Boden with Matt Rechek and RJ Corson behind. Simpson Race Products and VMS Rod Ends Heat 2 saw Todd Kluever pick up the win with Adam Taylor and Charles Kunz second and third respectively. The Behlings Heat 3 finished with Jones winning, Stark and Aaron Schuck trailing close behind at the finish.
The High Performance Lubricants B-Main locked the final seven drivers into the feature with Jake Goeglein and Lamont Critchett starting from the front row. Critchett won with England, Kevin Douglas, Cody Weisensel, Daniel Robinson, Dave Collins Jr, and Mike Stroik all fighting their way into the feature.
The 25-lap A-Main rolled off with Derek Doerr the pole sitter and Tommy Colburn alongside him. Colburn got the best start and fired away into the lead as Doerr fought with Stark for second. Colburn made a mistake through turn four which allowed Stark to take the lead. Parker Jones found himself in second and Doerr third. Stark hit lap traffic as Jones started to close in on the leader. Jones made it to the back bumper of Stark before a yellow flag flew for a spun car in turn three. The field went back racing and a blanket was able to be thrown on the top three for the remaining ten laps. Stark was the leader with Jones right behind him, and a fast Adam Taylor behind them both. Jones and Taylor fought for a few laps before Jones hit the cushion one too many times and Taylor drove under him. Taylor would try to close in on the leader but it was too late, as Kyle Stark drove off into the sunset to win his second feature of the season at Angell Park. Taylor brought his #5X machine home second with Jones third. Todd Kluever came fourth, and up eleven positions, a hard charging Lamont Critchett came in fifth.
The Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midgets will be in action next on July 22nd, at Sycamore Speedway along with the MARA Midgets. The series will round out its July on the 30th at Angell Park for the BMARA reunion night.
