PORT COLBORNE, Ont. (July 9, 2023) - Dylan Westbrook took his third Southern Ontario Sprints series win of the season on Sunday night at Humberstone Speedway.
Westbrook started on the pole and led all 25 laps en route to his third career Humberstone win. Ryan Turner finished second, and Mitch Brown took the final podium spot. Darren Dryden and Matt Farnham raced wheel-to-wheel for the fourth spot, with Dryden eventually prevailing while Farnham rounded out the top five. The only major incident of the race came when Shone Evans' car tipped over to bring out a red flag, but he was able to restart and finish the race.
The race paid $3,000-to-win thanks to Nitro 54 Variety. Westbrook also claimed the $100 Ackland Insurance Quick Time award, while Turner took the $150 Trailer Pros Canada Hard Charger award. The heat races were claimed by Westbrook and Dryden; both heats were entertaining, especially the second heat which saw Dryden fall back to fifth before charging forward to take the win over local Modified standout Mike Bowman.
Dylan Westbrook now has a 22 point advantage over Ryan Turner in the Tammy 10 Media SOS Championship standings heading into the next SOS event on Friday, July 14 at Ohsweken Speedway. Visit www.ohswekenspeedway.ca and www.southernontariosprints.ca for more information.
