Forler Finds Borderland Victory

Forler Finds Borderland Victory

Bryan Hulbert - El Paso, Texas (November 9, 2012) Taking the past two weeks to reassemble his own team, Logan Forler was paid handsomely for his efforts with his first Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV A-Feature win at the El Paso Speedway Park in El Paso, Texas.

“There are so many people who helped me the past two weeks to get this car together. I just have to thank them for helping me” commented Forler on the front-straight.

Drawing the outside of the front row, the Washington native turned Arizona resident was out gunned twice by pole sitter Tony Bruce Jr. after the start was called back following John Carney II slapping the outside wall in turns one and two on the initial start followed by spinning No. 77 of Dalten Gabbard in turn four.

On the third attempt, the Steven Forler Trucking No. 2L shot to the race lead with Bruce and Kraig Kinser in tow. Pausing for a caution on lap two that saw Wayne Johnson and Brady Bacon have to pay a visit to the work area, the race resumed for a pair of laps before the Oil Medics No. 77x found himself with nowhere to go as Dalten Gabbard spun across turn four. Both drivers continued with minimal damage.

Back underway Forler would find the tail of the field in no time, allowing Tony Bruce Jr. and Kraig Kinser to begin closing in. As the trio raced into slower traffic, the battle on the track was for fourth as Kyle Hirst worked to hold off the No. 12m of Kyle McCutcheon before the caution flew for the spun No. 01 of Kyle Sager with twelve laps complete. The restart would be short lived as the red flew for Casey’s General Store, FVP No. 21 of Brian Brown who ended his night on his side exiting turn three.

Under green the fight four fourth continued. After racing out the B-Feuature, the No. 12m of McCutcheon began swapping the fourth spot with Hirst at either end to the El Paso Speedway Park before Hirst finally got the better of the battle on lap sixteen.

Battling back into slower traffic, Logan Forler would find himself being stalked again by Bruce and Kinser. With the laps starting to wind down, Bruce would begin to close the gap despite Nose Wing damage to the Oil Medics No. 18 but Logan Forler was not to be denied at the checkered flag. Tony Bruce Jr. crossed the line second with Kraig Kinser grabbing the final step on the podium as the caution waved shortly after the checkered flag as drivers spun in turns three and four. Kyle Hirst held on for fourth with Johnny Herrera able to crack the top five.

Jason Johnson came eighteenth to sixth with Matt Covington, Travis Rilat, Brad Loyet, and Jack Dover completing the top ten.

Brady Bacon and Gary Wright both took provisionals into the night’s Feature Event. Steve Kinser was given a Promoters Provisional.

Kyle McCutcheon and Jason Johnson each grabbed B-Main wins. Heat Race victories belonged to Tony Bruce Jr., Kraig Kinser, Kyle Hirst, Logan Forler, Jack Dover, and Dalten Gabbard. The Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV continues Saturday November 10th at the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
