This top 5 was a great start for a new track in the SCR9 experience.
Heat 4 was a start from P7. The aim was to stay out of trouble, and pick through the field. After the shortened 8 lap heat The N9 car managed a 4th place.
Heat 8 was a front row start, and the pole sitter after 4 false starts without penalty started early again and beat Steve to turn 1, a few holes and car control issues Steve finished 4th again.
Noting the track was challenging and deep ruts and holes throughout.
The cut for the shortened 15 Lap B Main was inclusive of the 9 car. Top 6 to go through with 16 cars in the race.
A P5 spot ensured Steve only had to maintain this or better to transfer.
Steve tried a high run in Turns 3, 4 and got into the marbles, recovering to settle into 8th, this was not ideal and had trouble running down the front cars. Thankfully a stoppage and a restart allowed steve to make his way through to P3 and finish with a really tidy but rock scared car.
The front bonnet, and nose scoop were damaged from bundys and cakes of clay, the new car was not new anymore.
Out for the shortened 25 lap A main and a start from P16 saw not a lot of progress and minimal passing. The track was a bottom deal and no one ventured up high.
Steve got up to P 10 trying real hard do something different at the same time staying safe with the terrible track surface.
After a spin on the slick, and a ROF restart a 12th place was it for the feature.
Back to Victoria this Saturday to Avalon Speedway for Round 2 of the SRA Victorian Series.
