The 410 non wings would have 26 entries with the fast times going to Weston Gorham 13.709, Brian Hayden 13.380 and Brandon Mattox 13.087. The invert for the 3 heats was spun and it came up a 2. Heat race 1 was won by Brayden Fox over Tye Mihocko and Mitch Wissmiller. Heat race 2 was a wild one with Jack Hoyer winning it from 4th over Kyle Shipley from 6th and Austin Nigh. The final heat had Jadon Rogers winning it from the pole over Brandon Mattox and Jesse Vermillion. This setup the B main for the last 5 chances into the show. Travis Thompson won the 12 lap B main over Nate Mcmillin, Blake Vermillion, Brian Hayden and John Sluss. The A main wheel spin for the invert was a 6 which put Brandon Mattox and Kyle Shipley on the front row. The front row would battle for the lead the 1st lap but it wouldn't take long for the 24p and the 14 from the 2nd row to be battling for the top spot. The 24p of Tye Mihocko would take the lead from Brandon Mattox and he was hitting the cushion perfect up front. There was all kind of passing in the middle of the pack as Harley Burns who started 10th was knocking on the top 5 door at the halfway point. While the battles were at the middle up front Tye Mihocko was setting a very fast pace and he was into lapped traffic. Jadon Rogers was trying to get close enough for a slider so he was trying to diamond off of turn 1 aboove the cushion to see if that would close on the 24P of Mihocko. It was not working as Tye was hitting the groove just right and lapped cars were not slowing him down. Tye would hold on the final 5 laps as Jadon stayed about 4 car lengths back even though he was trying the different moves on the cushion every lap. Tye Mihocko got the big win over Jadon Rogers, Brayden Fox, Mitch Wissmiller and Harley Burns rounding out the top 5. Another great show for the 410's just 1 week before the big show.
The IMCA Racesaver 305's had another strong field of 21 cars. The 3 fast times were Kayla Martin 12.775, Bryce Norris 12.525 and Jordan Welch 12.671. This setup the 3 heats with an invert of 4. Heat race 1 had John Paynter Jr. win it from the outside front row over Tres Mehler, Kayla Martin and Keith Langley. Heat race 2 had Dustin Clark winning it over Ethan Barrow, Bryce Norris and Kyle Barker. The final heat had Dillan Baldwin with the big win from 3rd over Max Guillford, Ivan Glotzbach and Gregg Dillion. This setup the A main and with an invert of 3 it would put Dillan Baldwin and Dustin Clark on the front row. Dustin and Dillan would have a great battle early for the lead. Dustin would take the lead over Dillan and they were ripping very fast laps on the bottom and the cushion and 2 guys by the names of John and Ethan were coming to the front from their 2nd and 3rd row starting spots. By lap 6 lapped traffic was in sight by the leaders and this is when it is tricky because you have to get the lapped cars just right without losing momentum. John Paynter Jr. and Ethan Barrow were there if Dustin lost any momentum during his lapping moves. Sure enough Ethan Barrow would slice through the traffic and he had came from 5th to take the lead from Dustin Clark and he was on a mission to build his own streak at LPS kind of like Derek Losh did. Ethan would hit his marks on the final 5 laps and hold off John Paynter Jr., Dustin Clark, Dillan Baldwin and Bryce Norris for the win. Another great show by the 305's.
The UMP mods had 18 cars with the 2 fast times going to Jeff Deckard 15.145 and Matt Mitchell 15.106. This setup the 2 loaded heats with an invert of 4. Heat race 1 had Derek Losh come from 5th to win the heat over Jeff Deckard who came from 4th to 2nd then Jerry Bland Jr. and Logan Mounce. Heat race 2 had Jimmy Hayden win it over Richie Lex, Tim Prince and Matt Mitchell. This setup the A main and the wheel spin for the invert was a 4. This put Richie Lex and Jeff Deckard on the front row. This was a great 20 lap battle as Richie Lex ran a very strong race up front and would hold off Derek Losh to break up his streak of wins. Richie Lex had a great run and win over Derek Losh, Jeff Deckard, Logan Mounce and Tyler Loughmiller.
The UMP Supe Stocks had 15 entries and the 2 fast times were Josh Litton 15.403 and Larry Raines 15.008. This setup the 2 heats with an invert of 4. Heat race 1 had a lot of passing as Josh Litton who is leading the national UMP points came from 4th his heat to win it over Justin Massie from 6th, Matt Raber and JD Nash. Heat race 2 had Travis Heramb winning the heat holding off Larry Raines who came from 4th, Jordan Almanza and Wade Goodale. This would setup the A main and the invert was a 2 which put the heat race winners on the front row. Travis and Josh had a good battle early for the top spot and Josh would take the early lead and start to build what could be a complete sweep of the night with fast time in his group, win his heat and take the feature. He would be smooth on the low groove and would start to build his lead. Behind him Larry Raines had made a move to take 2nd and was trying to work the cushion to close on the front spot. With just a few laps to go Justin Massie was able to battle for 2nd with Larry and took the 2nd spot away. With a late caution Justin and Larry had one last chance to see if they could challenge the UMP points leader. Josh Litton was very strong and added to his UMP points lead with a big win at LPS. Following Josh at the finish line it was Justin Massie, Larry Raines, Devin Wallen and Travis Heramb.
The Bombers had a great 16 entries for the night and the 2 fast times were Josh Foxworthy 15.987 and David Wallen 16.221. This setup the heats with an invert of 3. Heat race 1 it didn't take Josh long from 3rd to take the lead and win his heat over Megan Cavaness, Corey Anstead and David Bumgardner. Heat race 2 had Joey Raber winning it from the outside front row over Scott Tidwell, David Wallen and David Bumgardner II. This setup the A main and the invert spin was a 1. This was trouble for the other 15 bombers as Josh Foxworthy was on the pole. When he is able to race at LPS around his work schedule the #38 is tough to beat. Josh did take the early lead for the 15 lap feature and he looked really strong. There was some good battles back in the field behind him as at the halfway point from 3rd through 7th were sometimes 2 wide going into the corners. Josh was able to build his lead for the final laps and he was able to pick up another win at the finish. Josh was followed by Joey Raber, Megan Cavaness, Scott Tidwell and David Wallen in the top 5. Thanks to all the 96 teams who put on a fantasic show on our Fireworks night for 2023.
