The RS12 Motorsports team kicked off its racing weekend with its traditional stop at Doe Run Raceway (Doe Run, Missouri) on Friday evening, where Brian Rieck and Harrison Robards each took part in the 19-car 600cc Outlaw Winged Micros class.
Rieck started 10th in his heat race and gained seven positions in his Spartan Transportation No. 12 to finish an impressive third, putting him on the pole for the 20-lap A-Main. After leading the first seven circuits on the 1/6-mile track he finished in the third spot, following Dominic White and Megan Thomas under the checkered flag. Jake Thomas and Dave Couch completed the top five.
Robards turned in a sixth-place result in his heat in the class, starting his Alarm 24 No. 11H car 14th in the night’s feature. He charged forward seven positions to come home seventh.
On Saturday, the RS12 crew moved to Southern Illinois Raceway (Marion, Illinois) for the Prelude to the Hustle. With a fourth-place result in his heat race in the A Class, Robards started ninth for the 25-lap A-Main on the 1/8-mile oval and finished in the same spot. A total of 18 A Class cars were on the property.
Meanwhile, Daniel Robinson got behind the wheel of the team’s No. 12 for the 29-car Winged Outlaws portion of the program at Southern Illinois. He finished fourth in his heat and rolled off the grid in the sixth spot for the 25-lap main event. However, he was unable to complete all the circuits and ended the evening with a 24th-place result.
Robards had also planned to compete in the Winged Outlaws division, but after a 10th-place heat race finished elected to focus on A Class competition.
