Sun Prairie, WI (June 2, 2023) - The 2003 Advanced Fastening Supply Badger Midget Series champion, Davey Ray, will make his series return on Sunday, June 4 at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI. Ray will drive the number 6B/Phantom Chassis/Honda entry owned by Mike Raymond of Rock Island, IL.
Ray currently holds 20 feature victories in the AFS Badger Midget competition at Angell Park Speedway and was the 2003 Fireman’s Nationals champion. Ray’s most recent start with the series was on July 7, 2019, at Angell Park Speedway where he won the feature event ahead of current All-Star Circuit of Champions 410 sprint series competitor Justin Peck.
Along with Ray’s accomplishments in the AFS Badger Midget series, he is also credited with a 2007 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals prelim night win, three Australian Speedcar championships, a New Zealand Western Springs Speedway win and four United States Auto Club National Midget series event wins.
Todd Kluever enters the event this weekend as the series point leader ahead of Daltyn England by 95 points. In third sits Kyle Stark just one point behind him. Jace Sparks and Cody Weisensel round out the top five. Raymond’s number 6B machine took home the most recent AFS Badger Midget Series victory at Wilmot Raceway on Saturday, May 27 with Adam Taylor behind the wheel. Ray is expected to be in contention Sunday but will have to battle recent winners Taylor, Sparks, and Brandon Waelti.
Sunday’s event at Angell Park will be broadcast live on Badger Racing TV with hot laps beginning at 5 pm. Grandstands open at 4 pm and pits open at 2 pm. Also on the card, Sunday will be the Wisconsin Wingless and MSA Sprints.
