Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (May 16, 2023) – Big Game Motorsports left Central Pennsylvania with a pair of top-six results last week as the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series battled with the vaunted Pennsylvania Posse.
It began on Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown with the Gettysburg Clash. David Gravel guided the No. 2 sprint car to the sixth quickest qualifying time in his group before he hustled from third to win a heat race. That earned a spot into the dash and Gravel once again moved forward, driving from sixth to third place.
Gravel battled inside the podium throughout the main event, advancing as high as second before finishing third for his 15th top five of the season. It marked his 200th career podium with the World of Outlaws.
“I felt like we had a really fast race car around the top,” Gravel said in a post-race interview on DIRTVision. “I felt like we were just as fast as anybody around the top, but Anthony (Macri) was really good running the bottom of (turns) three and four, and that’s kind of how he got back by me and won him the race. I think we had a really strong car. Hot laps and qualifying we weren’t very good. Heat race, honestly, we weren’t very good. We made the car really good in the dash. I think we had a really good car in the feature as well, but needed to be better when the track got slower and around the bottom.”
Two nights later Williams Grove Speedway hosted the opening round of the Morgan Cup. Gravel set quick time during qualifying and posted a runner-up result in a heat race to make the dash. He rallied from last – eighth – to fifth in the dash to garner the fifth starting spot in the A Main. Gravel duked it out for a top five throughout the feature before ending sixth.
The Morgan Cup finale on Saturday rained out.
Big Game Motorsports heads to Ohio this weekend to race on Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica and on Saturday at Sharon Speedway in Hartford. Gravel was victorious during World of Outlaws shows at Attica Raceway Park in 2017 and in 2021. He is seeking his first series win at Sharon Speedway.
