After Mother Nature stole another weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Ricky Thornton Jr. broke out his Wing and Non-Wing Micros on Friday afternoon at Sweet Springs Motorsports Complex (Sweet Springs, Mo.) to compete with the Dirt2Media National Open Wheel 600 Series.
With a fourth-to-first finish in his Non-Wing Micro heat placing him on the pole for the feature, Thornton turned back Jason McDougal in the 25-lapper to secure his seventh win of the season and first career with NOW 600 Series. Charging from the ninth row in the Winged A-Class Micro feature after racing his way into the show via B-Main win, Ricky passed 11 cars to finish sixth.
The weekend drew to a close on Saturday with Ricky scoring a pair of runner-up finishes in both features.
