(April 19, 2023) A two-night swing is next for the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products with Muskogee’s Thunderbird Speedway set for action on Friday, April 21, followed by the series debut at Elk City Motorsports Park in Elk City, Okla. on Saturday, April 22.
Friday’s event pays $2,000 to win, $300 to start, with Saturday getting a bonus to $3,000 to win, plus $1,500 to second thanks to RTR Home Rentals, VET Nation, and Jay’s Brake and Alignment. A random draw of the sixth through then place cars will get a $250 bonus.
Last in action at the famed half-mile-oval on May 29, 2022, against the ASCS National Tour, the night’s victory belonged to Sam Hafertepe, Jr. The Sooner Region takes on the National Tour at Muskogee again on Friday, July 14. Looking forward to this Friday’s regional affair, the Bud Morgan Memorial will also include Factory Stocks, Pure Stocks, and B-Mods. Tickets are $15 for adults, with kids 12 and under free. Gates open at 5:00 P.M., Hot Laps are at 7:00 P.M., and Racing is at 8:00 P.M. (CDT).

The series' first trip to the three-eighths-mile Elk City Motorsports Park, the track was reopened in 2022 after being shuttered since 2019. No stranger to Sprint Cars, the track features a rotating lineup of RaceSaver Sprint Cars, as well as OCRS events. Saturday is the only time the American Sprint Car Series will be in action this season.
Saturday, April 22, opens at 5:00 P.M. with Racing at 7:00 P.M. (CDT). Other classes include USRA Limited Modifieds, Factory Stocks, and USRA Tuners. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for youth (8-15), seniors, military, and first responders. Kids eight and under are free.
