Inside Line Promotions – OSBORN, Mo. (April 11, 2023) – Jack Dover is taking an optimistic approach following his season-opening race last Friday.

The Osborn Sprint Car Showdown got off to a rough start for Dover, who was driving the Rick and Chris Bowers’ No. 81 sprint car during the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event at U.S. 36 Raceway.

“One of the fuel lines soaked me in hot laps so I had to pull off,” he said. “Time trials was my hot laps. I had to feel it out and only had two laps. That gave us a bad time.”

Dover qualified 28th quickest before he finished 11th in a heat race, which lined him up at the back of the Last Chance Showdown.

“In the heat race I couldn’t really do anything,” he said. “Then in the LCS we spun out. For some reason the car got better. I don’t know if I was driving it harder or what, but it was the best I felt all night during those last four or five laps.”

Dover advanced to finish ninth in the consolation race, which was three positions shy of transferring into the main event.

“The last race of the night we moved forward,” he said. “It was my first race back in a car this year so that was like throwing myself to the wolves with these guys running 12 races so far. Then with getting no hot laps we were really behind from the start. It was a struggle all night so to finish and move forward was good.”

Dover plans to make his season debut in his No. 53 sprint car on May 26 at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., with the ASCS National Tour.
