Waylon trekked south to Port City Raceway (Tulsa, Okla.) on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Turnpike Challenge.
Amassing 63 Lucas Oil Now 600 Series entries and 77 POWRi Outlaw Micro Sprints, Phillips fell short of a transfer spot in both heat races, relegating him into a consolation race to battle his way into the show. Despite being underpowered, Waylon showed speed in his C-Main and B-Main but failed to transfer out, finishing 11th with POWRi and eighth with Lucas Oil Now 600 Series.
