Inside Line Promotions – Mt. POCONO, Pa. (March 27, 2023) – The Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars season gets underway this Saturday for Joey Amantea, who heads to one of his favorite tracks.

Bridgeport Motorsports Park in Swedesboro, N.J., welcomes the series for the first of four races this season.

“Every time we go to Bridgeport we have speed,” he said. “Just being in the right place at the right time is a big one for that place. It’s so fast and the track changes so much over the course of the race that track position is critical. It’s about getting yourself in a good position to battle for the win.”

Amantea has earned a top-five result at the dirt oval during each of the last three years, including a trio of top sixes capped by a third-place run last year.

The team plans to return to full-time competition with the USAC East Coast Sprint Cars in 2023 after a career-best campaign last year. Amantea captured his first career win with the series along with 10 top fives and 14 top 10s in 19 A Mains. That led to a fourth-place finish in the championship standings.

“This year out of my entire sprint car career I finally have seat-time, a race-winning capable car, a race-winning capable engine and a race-winning capable team,” he said. “All the pieces are together now to go for wins and that’s what our goal is this year. Now we just need to execute.”

Amantea also plans on competing in various 410ci non-wing sprint car races as well as micro sprint races when his schedule allows.

“The main goal for us this year in the 360s is wins and consistency,” he said. “Our goal with the 410 is we want top fives every night and a win when we race with the BOSS Series. I want top 10s when we race with USAC National. I think top 10s during Eastern Storm is a goal and when we go out for Indiana Sprint Week just making the show each night would be huge. Being competitive with them in Florida last month was great. Everybody has won and half their field are champions. That gave me a lot of confidence to be competitive with them.”
