(March 5, 2023) Wrapping up the Micro Meltdown presented by MelMark Pipe and Supply at Red Dirt Raceway on Sunday, a field of 88 entries were on hand with Chelby Hinton, Corbin Rueschenberg, and Jett Nunley landing in Victory Lane with the Dirt2Media National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division.

Crossing second initially to New Mexico’s Ryder McCutcheon, who led from start to finish, the scales would read light on the No. 5, forcing the disqualification and advancing Corbin Rueschenberg to the $750 win. The second A-Class triumph for the Arizona shoe marks his ninth overall trip to Victory Lane in NOW600 competition. Followed by Elijah Gile, he to would come up light at the scales, moving Brecken Reese to second. Taking the green from 15th, Kale Drake would end up fourth with Carson Bolden fifth.

Completing the weekend sweep in Stock Non-Wing action, and collecting the $1,000 top prize, Louisiana’s Chelby Hinton rolled from seventh to collect his 10th career wingless victory in NOW600 competition. The fourth different leader over the course of 25 laps, the opening seven laps went to Kale Drake before being sidelined with mechanical issues. Transferring the lead to Anton Hernandez, the No. 25 kept pace through Lap 15. Slipping to second, Hernandez tagged an infield tire that shot him into the infield. Trying to return to the track, Anton found the left side tires of Johnny Boland. Going around after the contact, the spin collected two other drivers in the process. Austin Saunders to the point, two restarts would end with the Texas driver being sent to the back for shifter starting. Going back to green, the final nine revolutions were in the hands of Hinton. Charging from 17th J.J. Loss made it to second with Seth Shebester third. Johnny Boland ended up fourth with Brecken Reese going 12th to fifth.

Making a miraculous comeback from a disastrous start this his Restricted A-Feature, Jett Nunley charged though the field for career victory No. 17. Tangling with Chase McDougal on the opening lap, four drivers in all would get caught up with all able to return. Putting the No. 33 ninth on the grid, Nunley wasted little time picking his way back towards the front. Fourth by the second lap, Jett would fight his way past Garyn Howard for the point, and proceed to gap the field by 2.690-seconds. Garyn would hold onto second with Cale Lagroon crossing third. Leading the first nine laps, Cash Lacombe slipped to fourth, while Carson Bolden grabbed his second fifth place run of the day.

Next on the 2023 lineup, Restricted will take centerstage for the Dirt2Media National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division at the Milestone Home Services Co Outlaw Nationals presented by T2 Promotions at Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Okla. on Friday, March 10, and Saturday, March 11. The youth-centered division will compete for a $2,000 top prize.

The 2023 season marks the 11th year of competition for the National Open Wheel 600 Series. Anchored by the Dirt2Media NOW600 National Championship, the NOW600 Series comprises several regional tours and sanctioned racetracks. The NOW600 National Championship features three divisions of 600cc micro sprints at each event: Stock Non-Wing, Winged A-Class, and Restricted 'A' Class.
