Back in action at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) on Tuesday afternoon, Ryan Timms was one of 36 All Star Circuit of Champions entries packed in the pit area for the series’ season opener.
With the heat race taking the top-five, Timms’ eighth-place finish in his heat race relegated him into the B-Main for another shot at the $6,000-to-win A-Main. Needing to place fourth or better, Ryan fell short with a sixth-place outing.
For the second round of the Classic Ink USA Southern Swing presented by Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, Ryan edged his way into the show with a fourth-place run in his consolation race after finishing sixth in his heat. Moving forward five spots in the 25-lap affair, Timms raced to a 19th-place outing.
On Thursday evening as the remainder of the week became World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series-sanctioned, Timms faded three spots in his heat to finish sixth, dropping him into a B-Main. Needing to place fourth or better to make the show, Ryan lost two spots on the final lap to finish 11th.
In a field of 34 World of Outlaws entries on Friday, Ryan snuck into the $16,000-to-win A-Main with a fourth-place finish in his heat race. Dropping two positions in the 30-lap affair, Timms crossed the line in 18th.
The weekend drew to a close on Saturday with Timms going ninth-to-seventh in his heat, sending him into the B-Main for one last shot at the DIRTcar Nationals finale. Despite racing his way into the show with the fourth-and-final transfer spot, Mother Nature had other plans and axed the feature.
