We would like to thank the couple of people that came out to the Limited Sprint rules meeting as well as to everyone that called with input for the future of this class.
It is no secret that the Limited Sprint class has been in a bit of turmoil lately with multiple different rule packages and the cost of racing at an all time high. We have spent countless hours trying to figure out a solution and we feel that the best option for the future of this class is to go with a nationally recognized rule package. While we know that there is no perfect solution and everyone has vastly different opinions, we truly feel that the best thing to do to ensure that this class is around for years to come is to go with the 305 rule package, this will be the rule effective 2025. Any driver choosing to make the leap early and get a 305 together for the 2023 or 2024 season will receive FREE driver entry at Cottage Grove until the rule becomes fully in effect in 2025.
For the 2023 and 2024 seasons we will be allowing any limited sprint rule package, whether it be Cottage Grove from 2021 which can be found on the website, or a rule package from another track or series. This will include the new head that the IHS series is allowing as well as the Dart #126122 replacement option. You will not be allowed to mix and match rules however and will have to state which track or series rules you are running at entry. We will also be keeping the tire rule open through 2024 to include various Hoosier options as well as American Racers.
We appreciate everyone that has given input on this change and to all of you that have ran in this class throughout the years! We are looking forward to the future of this class and to some great 305 racing here at Cottage Grove Speedway!
A couple of other things that came from our Sprint car class meetings are moving the cone restarts to the back stretch, a couple of format tweaks for bigger shows, and only allowing 1 new tire each night, we are still working on that piece but we will keep you all updated!
