Howard Moore set out for Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. over the weekend to enter the 10th Annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial.
The action kicked off on Thursday with a stout field of 74 Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) entries on hand. Howard started fourth in his heat race and finished second. After the invert, he started fifth in his qualifier and went on to finish fourth. His combined points earned him the pole position for a B-Main which he later won. From there, Moore transferred to a last-chance qualifier where he started and finished second. Locking into the 18th starting position for the A-Main, Howard advanced five spots to record a 13th place outing.
On Friday, Moore drew the ninth starting spot for his heat race and finished eighth, which positioned him starting ninth in his qualifier. Advancing to finish sixth, Howard transferred to a B-Main where he would start tenth. Moore had raced his way into a transfer position before falling to eighth in the closing laps, ending his night.
With combined points from the preliminary events on Thursday and Friday determining Saturday's line-ups, Moore was locked into the fourth starting position for his qualifying race. Unfortunately, contact with another competitor on the opening circuit would force Howard to the pits with front end damage to his No. 3. After the team made repairs, Moore started 18th in the B-Main and advanced to an eighth-place finish. Unfortunately, he fell short of the transfer which would bring his weekend to an early end.
