Seventy-eight drivers entered the opening round of the 33rd Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals Friday. After finishing second in his heat race and grabbing the win in his qualifier, Howard accumulated enough points to lock into the tenth starting spot for the $2,500-to-win feature.

On Saturday, Howard started the night with a third-place finish in his heat race before finishing sixth in his qualifier. His accumulated points positioned him fifth on the starting grid for the B-Main. With the Top-3 finishers moving onto the feature, Howard took the third-and-final transfer spot to earn the 17th starting spot for the finale.
During the course of the 41-lap, $10,041-to-win main event, Howard advanced six positions to cross the finish line in 11th.
