Knoxville, IA – 16 year-old Omaha teen, Dakota Hendrickson, continued his impressive ways this weekend posting a 5th place finish at the Crawford County Speedway in Dension, IA on Friday night and then a 6th place finish here at Knoxville’s historic half-mile on Saturday night.
After starting in the fourth row on Friday night the Omaha teen worked his way up to 5th on a very slick race track. “I was a bit disappointed that we couldn’t move up farther, but the track was very slick and no one could really get a bite” said Hendrickson.
On Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway Dakota qualified 9th fastest, just missing the 8 car inversion. After winning his heat race in commanding fashion the rookie started the 12-lap feature on the inside of the 5th row. He dueled with Iowa Falls, veteran Bob Hildreth laps 4 through 9. Hendrickson missed the bottom groove at one point that allowed Arthur, IA’s Bart Friedrichsen to shoot past both Hendrickson and Hildreth. Once Dakota worked by Hildreth he chased down Friedrichsen who then bobbled in turn 2 and the Omaha teen returned the favor. Dakota was closing on Carmen, IL’s Corey Timmerman at the checkered for fifth and so had to settle for 6th place, his first non-Top 5 finish in nearly two months.
