YORK HAVEN, Pa.: There is a different look and feel to the 410 Sprint Car schedule at BAPS Motor Speedway in 2023.
Six weeks ago, the management team at the speedway announced that the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series would invade the York Haven, Pa., facility for the first time in 30 years. But that was only part of the equation.
Speedway owner Scott Gobrecht and General Manager Kolten Gouse wanted to up the ante and revamped the schedule, adding 10 more 410 Sprint Car dates. The 11-race series is the biggest and most lucrative for the 410 Sprint Car division at the speedway since Gobrecht took over before the 2016 season.
“We have been trying to get a World of Outlaws date for a couple of years,” Gouse said. “Once that happened, it helped us gain national attention. Then, we went to work on building a schedule that best highlights the division and the racing at BAPS Motor Speedway.
“This is our biggest 410 schedule to date as far as number of races and money paid out. We are proud of what we came up with and look forward to hosting some of the best drivers in the country more this season.”
The World of Outlaws invade the speedway on July 19 for the Bricker’s Bash presented by Selinsgrove Ford. It will pay $10,000 to the winner and feature some of the best Sprint Car drivers in the world.
Gobrecht and Gouse also added more money to the Selinsgrove Ford Kevin Gobrecht Classic. The event was moved from the first weekend in May to September 23 and will pay a hefty $10,000 to the winner.
“September is an important time in central Pennsylvania, and we wanted to be a part of Central Pa. Month of Money,” Gouse said. “There are a lot of high-paying events during that stretch, and the Kevin Gobrecht Classic has become one of our prestigious events. So, it’s nice to be a part of that.”
Gobrecht and Gouse also added a date on March 26 to kick off the 410 Sprint Car season at the speedway. The 358 Sprints will also be a part of ACME Companies March Sprint Madness in what will be their first race in central Pennsylvania this season.
Pairing the Modifieds with the 410 Sprint division has become a popular combination at the speedway. The stars from Grandview, Big Diamond, and other regions in the Northeast join the Sprint Cars three times this season, including the season-ending Final Showdown on November 11. The Modifieds will also highlight the season opener at the speedway on March 18.
“The Modifieds have become a popular division at BAPS Motor Speedway,” Gouse said. “Putting the Modifieds and 410 Sprints on the same card combines the two premier divisions in the East.”
