July 20, 2012 – The dog days of summer are here and the Lunstra/Dobmeier Motorsports crew got back on the winning track last Friday at the River Cities Speedway in the hometown of Grand Forks, North Dakota. A daring move early in the race from third to first was what sealed the winning deal. The weekend ended with a couple of fourth place finishes at the Knoxville Raceway and Huset’s Speedway in the
midst of the summer heat.

The Senske & Son Transfer/J&J Chassis started the feature last Friday night in the ninth position and quickly found its way to the top position in nine laps. The winning move came with a thrilling move past Casey Mack and Wade Nygaard. The win was Mark’s seventh on the year at the track, his ninth overall on the year, and career win #92 at the bullring. He also stayed undefeated on the year in weekly competition at the track.

“I seen they were battling and one of them tried throwing a slider for the lead,” Mark said. “I went into the corner right on the cushion and luckily, made it stick and went on to get the win. Just a great night overall and it felt great to back in into victory lane with all my guys.”

Next up on the schedule was the weekly show down in Knoxville as the point’s season quickly dwindles to an end at the famous half-mile. The night started off with the fourth quickest time of the night out of the 23 cars signed in. After a third place run in his heat, the Right Choice Electric #13 started the feature in the third position. He was shuffled back to the sixth position early on after a tough start, but he would fight his way back to finish in the fourth position. Mark currently sits in fourth in the point standings with three weekly races left.

“We are turning our qualifying around here as the Nationals quickly become closer,” Dobmeier stated. “Then in the feature we just got shuffled back right away, and he fought our way back to the front, but just ran out of time. The track was pretty heavy and rough so it was really just wide open the entire feature.”

More scorching temperatures and humidity welcomed the team on third leg of their weekly at Huset’s just outside of Brandon, South Dakota. “Dynamite” continued his good streak of qualifying at the 1/3 mile short track with another second quick in time trials. He followed that up with a charge of sixth to second in a very race heat race, setting up a starting position of fifth in the 25 lap feature. Unfortunately, due to the heat and wind, the feature did not induce much passing and ended up laying rubber around the top of the race track early in the feature. He ended up finishing in the common position of the weekend, fourth. The Big Trucks by Jimco car now sits 16 points behind Terry McCarl in
the points heading into this Sunday’s action.

“It was just one of those deals where we pretty much all got in line after a few laps of racing,” Mark said. “The heat and the wind had a major part of that. We’ll just get ready for the next week and continue to chip away as we get closer to the Nationals.”

More warm weather is going to meet the team all week as they plan to make the weekly trip at River Cities tonight (Friday), Knoxville on Saturday, and Huset’s on Sunday.

2012 STATS: 34 Starts, 9 Wins, 22 Top Fives, 27 Top Tens, 9 Heat Race Wins, 4 Fast Times, Average Finish of 5.559, 127 Cars Passed in A Main Action, and a Plus/Minus of 81 positions.
