WTHR’s CHIKAGE WINDLER NAMED GRAND MARSHAL FOR J.D. BYRIDER’s “RICH VOGLER CLASSIC”

Indianapolis television meteorologist Chikage Windler has been selected to serve as the Grand Marshal when J.D. Byrider presents the “Rich Vogler Classic” USAC racing events July 26 at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

The “doubleheader” features the Traxxas Silver Crown Championship cars in the “J.D. Byrider 100” as well as the Mopar National Midgets on IRP’s ultra-fast .686-mile paved oval. The event is part of Indianapolis’ big racing weekend which includes the July 29 “Brickyard 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup spectacular at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Windler, an Oklahoma native and graduate of Oklahoma University, is seen on weekend and weeknight editions of Eyewitness News for WTHR-TV, Indy’s ABC affiliate, and on the SkyTrak Weather Network. She previously worked for television outlets in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Tulsa, Boston, Washington, D.C. and Norfolk and has appeared as a guest meteorologist on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “ABC World News.”

Chikage, whose name is Japanese, meaning “thounsands of views,” was honored in 2009 with an Emmy for outstanding weathercasting.
