Duke McMillen tribute, HK Classic recap & more on "KWS Tonight"

With the summer heat in full gear the “KWS Tonight” crew will be on the net this evening recapping a terrific night of competition at the “Howard Kaeding Classic” last weekend, in addition to paying tribute to the legendary Duke McMillen.

To view the show log onto http://www.kwssprints.com starting at 7pm pst on Thursday. It will then replay on the homepage to watch at your leisurely pleasure over the next week.

The “Howard Kaeding Classic” turned out to be an epic night and featured a main event that saw intense wheel to wheel action for all 30-laps. KWS point leader Jonathan Allard ended up winning the feature after an exciting duel with Shane Golobic and Tommy Tarlton.

The KWS Production Unit will showcase highlights from the “Howard Kaeding Classic” and give a glimpse at the entertaining evening that honored the “Campbell Comet.”

The sprint car community is also mourning the loss of famous car owner/crew chief Duke McMillen and we’ll pay tribute to him on the show this week. McMillen owned cars and crewed for a number of major stars in the sport of sprint car racing during his career.

We were able to get some words with various friends and colleagues of McMillen and share their thoughts on how much he meant to the sport and themselves personally. The services for McMillen were held on Tuesday and featured a large gathering of well known people in the west coast sprint car family.

We’ll also give everyone a more in depth look at the Jackson Rancheria Casino Resort, which will be hosting our three-day championship banquet weekend on November 9, 10 and 11. You can get your banquet reservations in now by contacting (707) 374-2222. To reserve hotel rooms for the weekend contact Jackson Rancheria at (800) 822-9466.

Finally we’ll take an initial look at next week’s event in Antioch and feature a viewer question from Brad Scadden of B Scadden Designs. If anyone has any questions or comments they’d like to be read on the air please Tweet or Facebook us.
