Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (November 9, 2022) While the forecast has the desirable lack of precipitation, the daily forecasted temperatures have continued to drop, and with that, officials with the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division have canceled the NOW600 Micro Nationals that had been re-scheduled to Friday, November 11, and Saturday, November 12.
“With the rain last weekend, we were hoping to get a break and move it by a week, which we did as far as rain goes, but the forecasted temperatures are the issue now,” said event and series promoter Terry Mattox.
“I’ve been watching the forecast since we made the call last week, and the temperatures keep dropping, and looking this morning, it’s showing highs in the 40s and lows below freezing. As bad as I want to put on this show for everyone, that is just miserable and frankly unfair conditions to ask anyone to race or spectate in.”
The show will not be rescheduled in 2022. Anyone who has pre-entered will be refunded. Series owner Terry Mattox is looking to run the event at the start of the 2023 season.
The cancelation of this weekend’s event draws the curtain on the 2022 season for the Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by Hi-Plains Building Division. Plans for 2023 are in the works and will be announced once finalized.
